A woman leprosy patient wears specialized shoes to aid her walking.

This contraption make look intimidating for those not accustomed to the after-effects of leprosy. It has been designed to help this women's legs not buckle while walking. Usually, each person works to develop leg braces and other devices according to their own preferences and needs. The disease affects people in different ways.
