A group of tribal women sit under a tree to stay cool.

The Madia people don't like to live indoors. In fact, they insist on living in the open. The main ward at the Lok Biradari hospital is in an open courtyard. Even after major surgery, patients are brought back into the courtyard. For a tribe that lives off the forest and is so close to Nature, it is their preferred environment for healing.
