A group of leprosy patients relaxing outsideAnandwan (Established 1951):

Anandwan serves as the headquarters of Maharogi Sewa Samiti. Dr. Vikas Amte, Baba Amte's older son and his wife, Dr. Bharati Amte are the caretakers of this large community. Anandwan has grown over the last 50 years to become what is perhaps the largest community of people affected by leprosy and physically challenged people in the world. Anandwan is home to those who have been rejected by society. They were the lonely, vulnerable, wounded and abandoned; they were the lost, the last, the least. A tribal woman sitting under a treeHemalkasa (Established 1973):

Deep in the heartland of India in an isolated tribal village called Hemalkasa, Dr. Prakash (Baba's younger son) and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte, have quietly been performing miracles on a daily basis, for thirty years. The Samiti's work with the primitive Madia Gond tribal people has gained international recognition. More...

The Somnath Project began as a leprosy rehabilitation center in 1967, in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Baba's vision was that cured leprosy patients would till the land and produce grain for the entire Maharogi Sewa Samiti family. More...
